With 2022 officially in the rear-view mirror, we hate to say it but before you know it, it will be the summer of 2023 and the influx of intern season.  Hopefully this year transports the relocation industry back to what everyone was used to pre-pandemic where everything was flowing together, no shipping delays, no difficulty in booking temporary housing, no rush or difficult moves.  But is that a real expectation?  Maybe it’s good to be positive and hope that the relocation industry goes back to what we are used to, but on the other hand this summer could pose even more challenges, based on events going on around the world such as:

  • The war in the Ukraine is still ongoing, as February 24, 2023 marked the one-year anniversary of the invasion
  • Canada has banned any “non-Canadians” from acquiring residential properties for the next two years, which will have a significant impact on non-Canadian transferees that are moving to Canada and are wanting to purchase a home
  • Australia has implemented a new quarantine for pets entering the country, meaning that for transferee’s moving with pets, this will cause stress and further complicate things as we know how pets are the extension of our families
